The Tenways CGO 009 is a sleek urban electric bike featuring a 250W motor, a low-maintenance belt drive, and a removable 374Wh battery. Its fresh Sage Green finish, clean frame design, and minimalist display make it an attractive choice for city commuting and paved-road cycling. With smooth pedal assistance and an advertised range of up to 100 km, this updated model puts style and everyday practicality at the forefront.

Unboxing and Assembly

Unboxing the updated Tenways CGO 009 was a pleasant surprise. The new Sage Green color immediately stood out, offering a brighter, fresher look than the dark gray finish of the previous version. The bike also arrived covered with a branded Tenways blanket, adding a thoughtful touch to the presentation.

Assembly was straightforward and did not take too long. The main steps involved fitting the handlebars, front wheel, kickstand, pedals, and front fender. The process was manageable and did not present any significant difficulties during the test.

Riding Experience and Pedal Assistance

The Tenways CGO 009 impressed me from the beginning of the test ride. Its pedal assistance felt strong, smooth, and consistent, delivering a steady flow of power as I rode.

The motor and gearing worked together well, creating a natural riding experience without the assistance feeling erratic. Combined with the bike's responsive steering and comfortable riding position, this makes the CGO 009 well suited to everyday urban journeys.

The overall ride quality is one of its strongest points. On smooth roads and paved routes, the bike feels composed and enjoyable, making it a compelling option for commuters who want an efficient and stylish electric city bike.

Belt Drive and Low-Maintenance Design

As with other Tenways models known for their belt-drive systems, the CGO 009 uses a belt drive rather than a traditional bicycle chain.

The belt drive complements the bike's clean, minimalist design and supports its focus on convenient everyday riding. During the test, the drivetrain performed smoothly and contributed to the bike's refined riding experience.

For urban commuters who want a straightforward bike for regular use, the belt-drive setup is an appealing feature.

Comfort and Riding Position

The Tenways CGO 009 offers a comfortable riding position, with handlebar grips that feel good in the hands and steering that responds well to input. On paved roads, these details help make the bike enjoyable to ride.

However, there are two comfort-related limitations worth considering.

First, the bike does not have front or rear suspension. As a result, potholes, rough patches, and other uneven surfaces can be felt directly through the frame. The CGO 009 is therefore better suited to smooth roads than to gravel tracks or rough off-road routes.

Second, the saddle is relatively firm. Although I found the overall riding position comfortable, the seat may become less comfortable during longer rides, depending on your personal preferences and what type of saddle you are used to.

For regular city commuting and paved cycling routes, the CGO 009 still delivers a very enjoyable ride. Riders who frequently encounter rough surfaces or prefer a softer saddle may want to consider these limitations before buying.

Rear Rack and Practicality

The Tenways CGO 009 features a rear rack designed for carrying bags and other suitable cargo. It is not intended to function as a passenger seat, so this bike is better suited to solo riding and everyday transport than to carrying another person.

For commuters who need somewhere to carry their belongings, the rack adds practical value while maintaining the bike's streamlined appearance.

Minimalist Display and Handlebar Controls

One of the most distinctive details on the CGO 009 is its small, round display. Rather than presenting an abundance of information, it focuses on the essentials in a compact format that fits naturally into the bike's minimalist design.

The handlebar controls follow the same philosophy. Their small buttons echo the rounded shape of the display and felt responsive and satisfying to use during the test.

This simple electronic setup suits the bike well. It provides the information and controls needed for everyday riding without making the handlebar area look cluttered.

Sage Green Finish and Tenways Branding

Design is one of the biggest strengths of the updated Tenways CGO 009. The Sage Green finish gives the bike a fresh, understated appearance, and it was easily my favorite of the three available colors.

The other options are Midnight Black and Ice Blue, both of which offer a different look while retaining the same overall design.

Tenways has also handled its branding particularly well. The logo on the side of the frame is clean and restrained, avoiding the oversized graphics found on some electric bikes. Smaller details, including the three stripes on the rear light and front fork, provide recognizable brand identity without overwhelming the design.

The combination of a slim frame, thick tires, belt drive, and carefully shaped handlebars gives the CGO 009 a cohesive appearance. The removable battery is neatly integrated into the frame, making it difficult to tell at first glance that this is an electric bike.

Overall, the frame design, paint finish, and subtle branding give the CGO 009 a polished, premium-looking aesthetic.

Motor Power and Battery Capacity

The Tenways CGO 009 is equipped with a 250W motor delivering 45 Nm of torque. During the test, the pedal assistance felt strong and steady, helping the bike maintain a smooth, natural riding rhythm.

The battery has a capacity of 36V and 374Wh. It is removable, allowing you to charge it either while it is installed in the bike or separately after taking it out. This provides flexibility for riders who cannot conveniently park their bike near a charging point.

Tenways advertises a maximum range of up to 100 km. Based on my assessment, a range of approximately 60–80 km is a more realistic expectation for practical use. Actual distance will depend on factors such as assistance level, terrain, rider weight, weather, and riding style.

For everyday commuting and city cycling, the battery capacity and estimated real-world range make the CGO 009 an appealing option, although riders planning longer journeys should leave a reasonable reserve.

Is the Tenways CGO 009 Worth Buying?

The updated Tenways CGO 009 combines stylish design, smooth pedal assistance, and a minimalist technical setup in a package that feels purpose-built for urban riding.

Its strongest features include the attractive Sage Green finish, well-integrated removable battery, belt drive, responsive steering, and compact round display. The 250W motor with 45 Nm of torque provides consistent assistance, while the straightforward controls keep the riding experience simple.

There are a few compromises. The lack of suspension means rough roads can be uncomfortable, the saddle is on the firm side, and the rear rack is intended for cargo rather than passengers. These limitations make the bike less suitable for off-road riding or for anyone who regularly travels over very uneven terrain.

Overall, the Tenways CGO 009 is an excellent candidate for riders looking for a stylish electric city bike for commuting and paved-road journeys. It delivers an enjoyable riding experience, a clean and distinctive design, and practical features without unnecessary complexity. If your regular routes are mostly smooth and you value appearance as much as everyday usability, the updated CGO 009 is well worth considering.
