Haoqi Eagle Review: A Long-Range Fat Tire E-Bike

The Haoqi Eagle is a high-performance e-bike designed for riders seeking a powerful, long-range fat-tire bike. Let’s dive into its features, assembly, performance, and whether it’s worth its price tag.

Unboxing and Assembly

The Haoqi Eagle arrives well-packaged, ensuring the bike is free from shipping damage. Assembly is straightforward—attach the pedals, handlebars, front wheel, light, and mudguard, and you're ready to go. While the manual is largely unhelpful, the process itself is simple and shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes.

First Ride Impressions

Power and Speed

Despite the EU-labeled 250W rating, the motor delivers its full 750W power. It accelerates smoothly and effortlessly handles hills and rough terrain. While the speed can’t be unlocked using common tricks, the motor provides a robust riding experience that meets its advertised specs.

Comfort and Fit

The Eagle is a big bike with a long wheelbase. While this adds stability, the handlebars feel slightly far from the seat. Adjustments or handlebar modifications may be needed for smaller riders.

The saddle is comfortable, and the fat tires (26x4 inches) offer excellent cushioning, making the ride smooth over grass, gravel, and dirt paths.

Battery Life

The 20Ah Samsung battery is a standout feature. In my tests, I managed over 120 km on the highest assist setting without charging, with 30% battery remaining. This aligns closely with the advertised 60–80 miles, particularly if you use lower assist settings. The removable design adds convenience for charging.

Features

  • Gears: The 7-speed Shimano system is smooth and ideal for varying terrain, but higher gears might benefit speed-focused riders.

  • Rack: The sturdy rear rack can handle significant weight and looks stylish.

  • LCD Display: While not customizable, it provides clear and comprehensive data during rides.

  • Bafang System: The motor, display, and speed controller form a pre-integrated system, limiting manual speed adjustments but ensuring seamless performance.

Drawbacks

  1. Size: Its large frame might not suit all riders, particularly those under 5’8” (173 cm).

  2. Manual: The lack of a detailed guide could challenge less experienced riders.

  3. Speed Customization: Unlike other bikes, the Eagle’s speed can’t be manually increased using display settings.

  4. Price: With a retail price of $1400, it’s firmly in the mid-range e-bike category.

Conclusion

The Haoqi Eagle delivers on power, range, and durability, making it one of the best fat-tire e-bikes I’ve tested. While its size and price may not suit everyone, its impressive battery life and robust build justify the cost for serious riders.

If you’re in the market for a powerful, long-range e-bike, the Haoqi Eagle deserves a spot on your shortlist. Keep in mind there are cheaper models and an upgraded version with a step-through frame if that better suits your needs.
