DUOTTS C29 eBike Review (2025): A 29-Inch Mountain eBike With Power and Problems

If you're in the market for a powerful and budget-friendly electric mountain bike, the DUOTTS C29 might have caught your eye. At just under $800, it offers a 750W motor, 29-inch tires, and a 24-speed gear system. On paper, it sounds almost too good to be true.

But is it? In this in-depth DUOTTS C29 eBike review, we’ll cover the good, the bad, and the annoying—so you can decide if it’s worth your money.

First Impressions: Setup and the User Manual

Let’s start with the unboxing experience.

The first thing you’ll notice? The user manual is a mess. It’s a poorly translated booklet missing key assembly steps. Thankfully, if you’ve put a bike together before, the process isn’t too complex—but don’t count on the manual for help.

A Closer Look at the Build: Gearing and Components

Surprisingly, the DUOTTS C29 includes a 24-speed drivetrain—three chainrings up front and an 8-speed cassette in the back. That’s impressive for a bike in this price range, where single-chainring setups are far more common.

However, not everything hits the mark.

  • Fenders: Included but practically unusable. Flimsy, awkward to mount, and not durable enough for real off-road riding. These are probably the worst fenders we’ve seen on any eBike. Fortunately, you can replace them easily and cheaply.

  • Throttle: A separate twist throttle comes in the box but isn’t pre-installed—likely due to European legal restrictions. Installing it is tough; the factory grip is almost glued on. You’ll likely need heat or lube to remove it without damaging the bars. Once installed, the throttle works smoothly and is limited to 25 km/h for compliance.

Tire Trouble and Customer Support

The bike ships with 29-inch mountain bike tires that look great—but beware.

During initial inflation, one of the tires blew off the rim and exploded. Duotts says this is rare and offered a replacement tire promptly, showing decent customer service. After swapping the tire, everything ran fine.

Lesson: Inflate tires slowly and check bead seating carefully.

Riding Experience: Power, Comfort & Handling

Once on the road (or trail), the DUOTTS C29 delivers where it counts.

🔋 Motor and Speed

The 750W motor provides strong pedal assist and throttle acceleration. It feels responsive, especially on paved roads and moderate trails. Just remember to secure the battery firmly—if you don’t hear the “click,” it can pop loose during bumpy rides.

🪑 Saddle & Fit

The saddle is soft and wide, which is great for casual rides but feels awkward when doing aggressive mountain biking. You may find yourself sliding off during sharp turns or rough terrain.

🔧 Suspension

This is a hardtail eBike, meaning no rear suspension.

  • Rear Shock: Missing. So if you're planning any serious off-roading, expect a rough ride.

  • Front Fork: Surprisingly decent. It’s basic, but it handles bumps and light trails well. Springy and comfortable for everyday use.
